Rules and Regulations
Scoring
1. Team structures will be scored on how far they tumble from the Launch Line. The farther away from the Score Line, the more points awarded to the structure. (The furthest roll will win the "tumble" competition portion of the challenge.)
2. Team structures will scored on how much weight the structure can hold after the tumble. Each structure will be tested at an official weigh station. (The most weight held will win the "weight" competition portion of the challenge.)
3. The structure with the most combined points will win the "overall" competition.
Clarifications About Ramp and Weight on Structure:
**Please note: The Ramp will be a piece of plywood that will be leaning on a trapezoid table. The ramp will be angled roughly 30° from table to floor. If you are calculating slope, the slope would be approximately .6".
1. The ramp will have a visible identifier that indicates the launch line of the ramp. The entire structure must be above the launch line of the ramp when released.
2. The structure must contact the floor surface between the Launch Line and the Score Line. If it then travels across the Score Line it will be eligible for score. If the structure rolls off of the ramp before hitting the floor, but travels past the Score Line, it will be eligible for score.
3. The team must release the structure on the provided ramp at least one time to be eligible to test the structure for weight held score. The structure must travel down the ramp and directly contact the floor without touching anything else. The team may make up to 3 attempts to receive score for the structure crossing the Score Line. **It must be clear that the structure was designed to try to roll.
4. Each eligible structure will be tested at the official weigh station. Weight will be placed on the "top" of the structure.
